When do bilberries ripen?

Bilberries usually ripen in southern Finland in early July and in northern Finland around the turn of July–August. The harvest peaks in August. Live ripeness, based on foragers' reports, is shown on Willit's harvest map.

What do bilberries cost?

Foragers price their own batches, so prices vary with the season and region. Current per-kilo prices are shown in the live listings on this page.

Where can I buy bilberries straight from the forager?

On the Willit marketplace: pick a forager's listing, order, and collect nearby or from a pickup point. You buy directly from the forager – the shortest possible chain from the forest.

Can restaurants or professional kitchens order bilberries?

Yes. Willit also serves restaurants and professional kitchens: larger batches, invoicing and full traceability down to the forager. Leave a request on our business page.

Lahikalaa.fi — a digital marketplace and cold pick-up network for the Bothnian Bay's professional fishers

The project opens lahikalaa.fi, an online service aimed at professional fishers on the Bothnian Bay coast, bringing their catch directly to consumers and restaurants to order, and pilots a fresh-fish cold pick-up point in the Oulu region. The goal is for the fisher to focus on fishing while the service handles the selling.

The project is funded by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) via the Bothnian Bay coastal Kalaleader. Grant awarded: €17,500.
